Santa Lucia

Santa Lucia on the east coast of Sardinia is small but nice. The town is characterized by the beautiful situation right next to the beach of La Caletta. Swimming, surfing, beach holidays, recreation and hiking in the nearby mountains of Gennargentu or Capo Comino are just some of the activities possible around here. The lovely village square gives way to the great blue of the sea and the beach is right next to the village. The Sardinian cuisine can be enjoyed here in a quite relaxed atmosphere.
The village belongs to the region of Nuoro in Sardinia. High season is from mid-June to mid-September - as everywhere in Sardinia. Off peak season the village is very quiet. There are not really many people living here and the holiday homes are swiped empty in winter. During the peak season the place is quite busy. But because of its situation wiht no large settlement nearby it is still one of the more peaceful holiday destinations around sardinia.

Santa Lucia and its Surroundings
The small town of Santa Lucia is located on the east coast of Sardinia and is actually just a village. It is a very lovely village - right near La Caletta, which is much larger. It is also siuated right next to an awsome beach and with a very small town center overlooking the sea.
The central village square offers views of the beautiful blue of the Mediterranean and here you will find restaurants, bars, cafes and ice cream parlors. You can hardly get a better view in this area of Sardinia. The whole scenery is crowned by the large Spanish watchtower that borders the waterfront.

The large beach Spiaggia di Caletta connects the two villages of La Caletta and Santa Lucia. There are two campsites here: Camping Selema and Villaggio Camping Calapineta - both in the shade of pine trees, not far from the center of Santa Lucia. Apartments and holiday homes are also available here and you also won't find large hotels in Santa Lucia.
In the first week of September, the "Santa Lucia Festival" takes place - with music, exhibitions, artists and more. A surf school can be found on the beach next to Santa Lucia. The pretty location, the shady pine groves, excursions to Capo Comino, to Orosei, La Caletta or a tour to Nuraghe San Pietro Torpe 'Nu and other activities make Santa Lucia a nice holiday destination. The Sardinian cuisine can be enjoyed in the village at fair prices. A surf vacation, a beach holiday, a camping holiday or a hiking holiday in the nearby mountains - Santa Lucia is perfect for that.
Santa Lucia - Beach La Caletta
From the center of Santa Lucia you can easily spot the beach of La Caletta. This is also the name of the village on the other side of the beach, which is larger than Santa Lucia. When the weather is good, the blue shades of Santa Lucia or the beach La Caletta are absolutely awesome. This also applies to many other beaches in the area.
The beach of La Caletta is very flat, it is a sandy beach in beautiful bright colors - almost white. The sea is very calm, especially in summer. Thus Santa Lucia is also well suited for a family vacation. During the main season from June to about mid-September, there is much more going on here than in the photo. In the low season, on the other hand, you are almost on your own along the beach of La Caletta.
